Snowmobile Association of Massachusetts brings supplies to victims of Hurricane Helene

CHICOPEE, Mass. (WWLP) – Many people in North Carolina still have no home and no power, but a snowmobile group in Massachusetts is looking to bring supplies to communities in need.

North Carolina is still gripping with the devastation of hurricane Helene last fall, as freezing temperatures hit western areas of the state. This prompted former North Carolina resident Greg Focer to reach out for help. He told 22News that many areas haven’t been able to rebuild.

“The situation up there is bad, and they lost 6,000 miles of roads,” Focer said. “15,000 homes were destroyed, some of the homes that weren’t destroyed were filled with mud.”

A grant from the federal government last week awarded $1.6 billion in funding to help with construction efforts. Despite help from the government, many people in North Carolina are still living in campers and tents with minimal supplies…
