A historic railroad roundhouse off Route 28 in Hyannis once used to maintain steam engines is getting ready to house other types of engines – antique and collector cars.
The 124-year-old building, constructed of brick from the West Barnstable Brickyard, is on the State Register of Historic Places and faces Engine House Road. Soon to be called Engine Room, the 14,000-square-foot trapezoid shape building was built in 1901 as the hub of extensive railyards in Hyannis at the time.
