Men accused in Cambridge brothel ring named

The names of several men accused of buying sex at Cambridge-area brothels were publicly disclosed for the first time Friday.

Why it matters : Federal prosecutors have stated brothel clients included “elected officials, high tech and pharmaceutical executives, doctors, military officers, government contractors with security clearances, professors, attorneys” and others.

The big picture : Court magistrate Sharon Casey found “sufficient evidence to establish probable cause” to bring charges against all eight defendants whose cases were heard, though most did not appear in person.

  • Hearings are being held over three consecutive Fridays, so there will be more names to come.
