History is on the grill at Kosta’s Cafe in Spencer

SPENCER — Passersby may miss Kosta’s Cafe, which occupies the first floor of a three-decker on Pleasant Street, if it weren’t for the big sign declaring “Breakfast & Lunch” and “Dine in or Take Out.”

Diners certainly won’t miss the friendly greetings from busy waitresses and the homey look of the place, with wood paneling and linen-covered tables.

Kosta’s Cafe, at 31 Pleasant St., is owned by Alex Mihali, 30, who works in the kitchen with his father, John. Moving through about 400 eggs a day, the duo puts out dish after dish of breakfast omelets and their house Benedicts, as well as pancakes (full stacks and short) and homemade hash…
