Massachusetts Weather Alert: Ice Accumulation Up to 0.20” in Worcester Hills Through Sunday Morning

Boston, MA – Parts of northern Massachusetts are bracing for light icing and freezing rain, with elevated areas such as the northern Worcester Hills expected to see up to 0.20 inches of ice accumulation by early Sunday.

According to the National Weather Service in Boston, freezing rain will begin late Saturday and persist into Sunday morning, primarily affecting higher terrain in counties like Franklin and northern Worcester. The heaviest ice totals, ranging from 0.10 to 0.20 inches, are forecast across areas near Greenfield and Fitchburg.

Light icing can still create dangerous conditions on untreated roads and sidewalks, especially in elevated and shaded areas.
