Worcester company indicted on 17 counts in bilking MassHealth, Medicaid over $3M

BOSTON — The statewide grand jury has returned indictments against a Worcester-based nonemergency medical transportation company and its owner for allegedly submitting more than $3 million in false claims to MassHealth and its subcontractors for services that were never provided.

In addition to submitting false claims, Instant Transportation LLC and Ardit Islamaj, 36, of Worcester, allegedly laundered those fraudulently obtained funds, and abused and neglected patients who were MassHealth members, according to the state attorney general’s office.

On Thursday, Instant Transportation and Islamaj were indicted on 17 counts, including Medicaid false claims, larceny over $1,200, patient abuse and neglect, identity fraud, money laundering and witness intimidation…
