Stairwell to be replaced at Worcester parking garage where man was hit by falling debris

WORCESTER ― A stairwell at a city-owned parking garage where a piece of debris fell and injured a pedestrian is closed and will be renovated, according to City of Worcester spokesman Tom Matthews.

Steve Walsh, of Shrewsbury, was hit by a falling piece of metal while walking up the stairwell at the Federal Plaza Municipal Garage March 8 and he needed several staples to close a head wound.

The garage, constructed in 1970, is one of the most used in the city. It is located across the street from the Hanover Theatre and the U.S. District Court House…
