8 in 10 New Massachusetts Residents Are Hispanic or Latino

People are still leaving Massachusetts for greener pastures in other states where housing, energy, and most everything else costs less, and there are fewer government regulations to contend with. However, according to a January 2025 Boston Globe piece, “the exodus is slowing down.”

The Globe reported, “We were losing around 1,100 people a week to other states during the COVID-19 pandemic. Now that’s been cut in half to pre-pandemic levels.”

A federal migration report from the U.S. Census Bureau indicated that Massachusetts lost 119,100 residents between June 2021 and December 2024…
