WORCESTER — Among the thousands of worshippers and faithful who have been in St. Peter’s Square over the past several weeks have been two students from Worcester, who have gotten the chance to be on hand for several historic moments regarding the papacy.
Maryja Prytko of Millbury and Savina Villani of Shrewsbury are both sophomores at Assumption University, and have spent the spring semester studying abroad in Rome through a school program. Over the last few weeks, the duo have been on hand to see both the final days of Pope Francis, who died on April 21, and the naming of a new pope, Pope Leo XIV, which took place on May 8.
