Fall River woman arrested for DUI with 5-year-old in the car, Dartmouth, Smithfield, Bristol, Brockton residents also facing charges

Portsmouth, RI — Over the weekend, Portsmouth Police officers made several alcohol-related arrests during proactive patrols and while responding to calls for service. The incidents included arrests for driving under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs with one involving a driver with a 5-year-old passenger. Additionally, one individual was arrested for consuming alcohol in public and obstructing officers during the investigation.

On May 10, 2025, at approximately 2:20 a.m., officers observed a vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed in the area of West Main Road near Russo Road. The vehicle was stopped, and the operator was identified as Olivia Fryzel, 27 years old from North Dartmouth, MA. Fryzel exhibited multiple signs of intoxication and was arrested for DUI of Liquor or Drugs 1st Offense with a BAC of .10-.15.

On May 10, 2025, at approximately 10:18 p.m., officers observed a vehicle committing moving violations in the area of Route 24 North near Freeborn Street. The vehicle was stopped, and the operator was identified as Matthew Roethlein, 23 years old from Smithfield, RI.
