Summer is finally here. While the frigid temperatures and persistent cloud cover may suggest otherwise, the calendar shows we’re just days away from June. It’s almost time to fire up the grill, put in for vacation days and head to the (gulp) beach.

If you’re anything like me, you love spending time at the beach, but stepping into the water (especially here in New England) can be intimidating. I’m happy to swim in the ocean when we’re on vacation in the crystal-clear Caribbean, but the murky greenish-brown waters of Massachusetts set my imagination on fire.
I can’t help but picture strange, shadowy creatures brushing against my legs and feet just waiting for a chance to bite.
