The Worcester Police Department has taken two more individuals into custody linked to the recent gunfire at University Park, building on the ongoing effort to crack down the violence that startled the community last week. As reported on the city’s official police press release page, twenty-five-year-olds Luis Ozuna and Raymond Leblanc have been apprehended, facing an array of serious charges including Assault with a Dangerous Weapon and Armed Assault to Murder. Similar charges have been laid against a third suspect, Lugardo Flores, who was previously arrested.
After the sound of gunfire disturbed the evening air on May 27, witnesses reported a volley of 10-12 shots near Illinois and Gates Street, as noted by the Worcester police. With several shell casings discovered at the scene, the law enforcement response uncovered more than just the echoes of violence. In another part of the city, a 21-year-old was rushed to the hospital, suffering from a graze wound to their head, while encountering two motor vehicles that were scarred by the incident, projectile-damaged as innocent bystanders.
