Shrewsbury Police Department rescues eight passengers from sinking boat on Lake Quinsig.

SHREWSBURY — The Shrewsbury Police Department’s Marine Unit made a big rescue.

On the evening of June 29, the Shrewsbury Police Department received a report from a boater whose vessel was taking on water, according to a Facebook post. Officer Chad Chysna, who was on patrol on the department’s jet ski, located the distressed vessel.

Two other officers — Officer Mattero and Officer Carrol — arrived moments later by boat. A malfunctioning bilge pump was causing the boat to sink. All eight passengers were safely transported to shore, and officers towed the vehicle to the department’s boathouse before it could completely sink…
