WORCESTER — An order by local officials will be asking for the city manager’s office to explore options to provide property tax relief to landlords that rent out housing at affordable rates.
The order filed by Mayor Joseph M. Petty and District 2 Councilor Candy F. Mero-Carlson on Wednesday, July 2, draws from a 2024 state legislation amendment that allows municipalities to offer property tax exemptions to landlords who maintain rent levels aligned with federally defined income thresholds.
