MONSON, Mass. (WWLP) – A Monson police officer deployed their stun gun to impair a suspect who allegedly attempted to retrieve a weapon from a bag during a narcotics investigation.
In a news release from the Monson Police Department, officers received information that 46-year-old Charlie Ricko from Springfield may have been involved in a drug deal after he was caught trespassing beneath the Route 32 overpass on Bethany Road.

During the interaction between the officers, police say Ricko became argumentative and began clutching a black bag he had across his chest and shoulder. An officer deployed their stun gun after several commands to show his hands.
Ricko was then placed in handcuffs and officers recovered a manufactured 9mm ‘ghost gun’ with no serial number that was loaded with nine rounds of ammunition, a double-edged knife, cash, a scale, and various narcotics in the bag. He was arrested and charged with possession of a firearm without a license, as well as several narcotics-related offenses.
