MSPCA rescues 50 dogs and cats from Texas Flood Crisis; ready for adoption in Massachusetts now

On July 11, 2025, the MSPCA-Angell received approximately 50 dogs and cats from the Williamson Animal Shelter in Texas, which is located five miles from an area impacted by recent catastrophic flooding.

The group includes 30 dogs, ranging in age from 3 months to 6 years and including breeds such as terriers, Labrador Retrievers, German Shepherds, and Alaskan Husky mixes, and 20 domestic shorthair cats, aged 2 months to 7 years.

These animals were transported via a flight coordinated by the Bissell Pet Foundation to Hanscom Field in Bedford, Massachusetts. Upon arrival, they were taken to the MSPCA’s Northeast Animal Shelter in Salem for a state-mandated 48-hour quarantine, during which they receive medical care and behavioral evaluations to prepare them for adoption.
