I know I’m going to catch a lot of flak for this, but Worcester needs to clean up its act. Recently I drove around the city and took note of the shape she’s in, and I came to the conclusion that my beloved hometown needs a Saturday night scrub.
There’s no use denying it. Worcester looks kinda … grubby. I saw rubbish stuck in unkept median strips, clinging to the roadside and clogging drains. Weeds fill sidewalk cracks. Some streets haven’t been swept, at least as far I can tell, since many seem to have an inch of old sand and grime lining the curbs. I guess my question is: who’s in charge of giving a damn about how Worcester looks?
I’m referring to what my dad called “the main drags.” Worcester’s main thoroughfares are not the responsibility of the average citizen, though certainly it’s the responsibility of every person to refrain from littering no matter the location. However, the cleanliness of neighborhoods should be a joint effort between city employees and the people who call those streets home. Apparently, that’s not the case…
