One count dropped, felony count added for Sunbury mink releasers

Sunbury, Pa. — The prosecution added one felony charge and dropped one other charge Monday during a hearing for a Massachusetts couple accused of releasing hundreds of mink last fall at a Northumberland County fur farm.

Cara Mitrano, 28, and Christopher (a.k.a Celeste) Legere, 30, had one charge each of felony aggravated cruelty to animals added by Northumberland County District Attorney Mike O’Donnell. One count of corrupt organizations was dropped.

Northumberland County Judge Paige Rosini heard arguments Monday as part of the defense’s omnibus motion. Each party has 30 days to file briefs after they receive copies of the hearing transcript. Rosini will eventually decide if the case will proceed to trial…
