Whereabouts of driver in Waterbury crash that killed college student unknown after detained by ICE

WATERBURY — Five months after a Massachusetts man was detained by federal immigration agents outside Superior Court in Waterbury, his exact whereabouts remain unclear and the future of the criminal case against him is uncertain.

Luis Martinez-Alba, a 32-year-old from Worcester, is charged in a fatal drunk driving crash that killed Central Connecticut State University senior and Waterbury native Jayden Gonzalez, 22, on Nov. 10, 2024.

Martinez-Alba faces charges of reckless driving, second-degree manslaughter with a motor vehicle, driving with a suspended license and driving under the influence of alcohol/drugs. He posted a $150,000 bond following his arraignment in January…
