Massachusetts man sentenced to prison in drug distribution conspiracy after 6.5 kilos of cocaine seized

BOSTON – A Massachusetts man was sentenced yesterday in federal court in Worcester for his role in a cocaine distribution conspiracy.

According to the Massachusetts Department of Justice, 33-year-old Hector Torres was sentenced by U.S. District Court Judge Margaret R. Guzman to seven years in prison to be followed by five years of supervised release. In May 2025, Torres pleaded guilty to one count of conspiracy to distribute and possess with the intent to distribute 500 grams or more of cocaine and one count of possession with intent to distribute 500 grams or more of cocaine. Torres was indicted by a federal grand jury in November 2023.

In or about June 2022, a package sent from Puerto Rico to Worcester was intercepted and found to contain approximately 6.5 kilograms of cocaine. On June 21, 2022, law enforcement executed a controlled delivery of the package. While accepting the delivered package, Torres apologized for not being there earlier, took the package, and set it on the ground in order to sign for delivery.
