Worcester, MASS–
Organizers are busy preparing for this year’s Pride Festival in downtown Worcester. Pride Worcester hosts the annual event and said this year’s festival is their biggest yet. Attendees can expect more than 250 vendors, a lineup of performers and speakers, health services and a youth and family zone. Pride Worcester said this year is extra special because they’re celebrating the 50th anniversary of pride in Worcester.
“Over the 50 years of pride in Worcester we’ve come a long way. The first pride ever was a march, and the marchers had rocks thrown at them, slurs made,” festival director Ariana DelloStritto said. “ This year’s festival we are dealing with a different political climate but just as contentious. Although we’ve grown, there is still plenty of work to do.”…
