CHICOPEE, Mass. (WWLP) – Several roads are closed across western Massachusetts due to the ongoing storm and resulting damage.
Severe Thunderstorm, Tornado Warning Saturday afternoon and evening
Belchertown:
The Belchertown Police Department stated that Bardwell Street is closed in the area of #270 due to fallen trees with utility wires down. Drivers are urged to seek alternate routes.
Granby:
- Amherst Street between West State Street and West Street
- Easton Street between Amherst Street and Porter Street
- Burnett Street
- Mary Lyons Drive
Holyoke:
The Granby Police Department stated that the following roads are closed in Granby due to the storm:
Holyoke Police Chief Brian Keenan stated that the following roads are currently closed in Holyoke due to the storm:
- Route 5 – Dartmouth Street to Mountain Access
- Southampton Road – Easthampton to cross Road
- Rt 141 – Closed on Easthampton side, closed from Holyoke University Park to Southampton Road
- Easthampton Road to Cross Road
- Homestead Avenue near Mayor Drive and near 1139 Homestead Avenue
Southampton:
The Southampton Fire Department stated that College Highway is closed near the Southampton Country Club due to downed trees and power poles. Southampton and Westfield crews are also in the area of Russellville Road due to a transformer on fire. Residents should avoid both areas, use caution, and do not approach trees on wires or downed wires.
