WORCESTER, Mass. (WWLP) – A Worcester man was found guilty of multiple charges, including kidnapping and attempted murder, in connection with an incident in 2017.
The Worcester County District Attorney’s Office stated that on August 26, 2017, 43-year-old Joshua Hubert of Worcester was at a cookout when he kidnapped a seven-year-old girl. He reportedly strangled the victim and threw her off the I-290 bridge over Lake Quinsigamond.

The child survived the fall and was able to swim to shore on the Shrewsbury side of the lake, where she found a nearby home and asked for help. The Shrewsbury and Worcester Police Departments then began to investigate this incident alongside the Massachusetts State Police Detectives assigned to the Worcester DA’s Office.
After a multi-day trial in Worcester County Superior Court, Hubert was found guilty on Friday of two counts of attempted murder, one count of strangulation, and one count of kidnapping of a child.
