Connecticut joined states to secure vaccines. Officials hope it doesn’t come to that

HARTFORD — Connecticut Public Health Commissioner Manisha Juthani described joining other states in breaking from the federal government to obtain vaccines as an option of last resort.

Connecticut, nine other states and New York City are exploring group purchasing through the newly established Northeast Public Health Collaborative amid concerns and confusion over federal vaccine recommendations under President Donald Trump and U.S. Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr.

“One of the things we are working on right now is looking at developing if we needed to – we do not want to, we do not hope to, but if we need to  – find another way to purchase vaccines (with states) we are actually in conversations with … around the country,” Juthani said…
