In Worcester, Massachusetts, a September 26 shooting on Piedmont Street finally saw an arrest over a week later. Officers responded to a ShotSpotter alert and recovered several rounds. Eighteen-year-old Alexander Cruz-Abreau was nabbed with a ghost gun, machine gun conversion kit, and loaded magazine. He now faces multiple charges, including possession of a firearm and a machine gun. Authorities are piecing together how the weapon was tied to the earlier shooting.

Queens was the scene of a grisly family stabbing in Flushing. Police say Weisheng Chen, 27, allegedly killed his 50-year-old mother-in-law and stabbed his 17-year-old brother-in-law, then set a room on fire in a multi-family home. Chen slashed his wrists and was hospitalized in critical condition. Two siblings who live in the basement described the horror as a cousin’s husband turned attacker.
