Nor’easter heads towards Massachusetts Columbus Day weekend

CHICOPEE, Mass. (WWLP) – The 22News Storm Team is tracking rain moving in on Sunday and on Columbus Day.

Saturday is probably the pick of the weekend, as rain moves in on Sunday. A nor’easter will bring some rain on Sunday into Monday. Some indications are that the rain may not arrive until later on in the day, especially Sunday night, and during the day on Columbus Day. The winds are going to pick up as well.

When to expect peak road traffic Columbus Day weekend

The storm system is just off the Florida coast on Friday afternoon and is going to move up the eastern seaboard and eventually bring rain to southern New England, especially the Cape, the islands, and the coastal areas.

Rain from that coastal storm moves in Sunday afternoon and spreads across all of New England heading into Sunday night. On Monday, the rain continues with windy conditions. Some lingering showers into Tuesday morning.
