In this installment of Worcester Walks, we’re back at the nearly 6,000-acre Douglas State Forest for our last of three visits to the state park’s miles on miles of trails, and this time, we’re headed for a Southern New England landmark: the spot where Massachusetts, Rhode Island and Connecticut meet.
The Douglas State Forest borders both Connecticut and Rhode Island, and at its southwestern corner, you can take one step and be in either of those states, as we did when we visited just as the fall foliage was beginning to turn.
We embarked from one of the many trail heads located along Southwest Main Street, and the walk from there to the tri-state marker was approximately a mile, crossing Rocky Brook and following the Southern New England Trunkline rail trail…
