Massachusetts marijuana retailers and medical dispensaries combined to sell over $1.4 billion worth of product in the first 10 months of 2025, according to new data released by the Cannabis Control Commission.
The figures show $1.29 billion in adult-use sales through October 12, along with $123.3 million in medical marijuana purchases, combining for a total of $1.413 billion. Together, the totals highlight the strength of the state’s marijuana market, which has consistently ranked among the top nationwide since launching legal sales. At the same time, the average price for dried flower has dropped to its lowest point since legalization, reaching $4.09 per gram and $115 per ounce. The steady decline in wholesale and retail prices has been credited to a maturing marketplace and expanding supply.
Massachusetts legalized recreational marijuana through a voter-approved initiative in November 2016. The state’s first retail stores opened in November 2018, making Massachusetts the first state on the East Coast to launch licensed sales. Since then, the industry has grown to include hundreds of licensed retailers, cultivators, and product manufacturers.
