Worcester predator sentenced for abducting, strangling 7-year-old, hurling her from bridge

Worcester, Mass. — A Worcester man was sentenced Friday to up to 30 years in state prison for the brutal 2017 kidnapping and attempted murder of a 7-year-old girl, whom he strangled and hurled from an Interstate 290 bridge over Lake Quinsigamond.

Joshua Hubert, 43, was convicted last month after a multi-day trial on two counts of attempted murder, one count of strangulation and one count of child kidnapping. He was acquitted of two counts of aggravated rape of a child.

Superior Court Judge Carol Erskine imposed two consecutive 14-to-15-year prison terms for the attempted murders, plus a concurrent 4-to-5-year term for strangulation. Hubert must also serve four years of probation for the kidnapping conviction upon release…
