Worcester City Manager Eric Batista tells Spectrum News 1 that the city will be announcing a new location of a temporary homeless shelter this winter. For the past two winters the former Registry of Motor Vehicles (RMV) at the corners of Main and Myrtle Streets has served as a temporary shelter during the colder months. In it’s two years of operation the shelter at the former RMV served hundreds.
City Manager Batista said the city is looking for alternative locations to add to the permanent shelter beds already in the city, “We’ve worked currently right now in the current shelter system to try to expand some additional beds in the current shelter system.
