Study shows alarming drop in pharmacy access in Massachusetts

BOSTON (WWLP) – Over half a million Massachusetts residents are currently living in pharmacy deserts, according to new research released by the Massachusetts Health Policy Commission (HPC).

The study, part of the HPC DataPoints series, reveals that the number of pharmacies in Massachusetts has decreased by nearly 200 since 2019, representing a 17.1% decline, which significantly impacts access to medications and services for residents.
