(WJAR) — State leaders are working to try to figure out a plan as the fear of SNAP benefits running out for families begins to grow.
Gov. Dan McKee said conversations are being held to figure out a number on how much state funding can be provided to the gap.
“We are working on accommodations of the state partnering with some of the philanthropy, the food banks, all the municipal leaders have been engaged and have been working with the foundation as well. So, we’re working on putting something together to offset some of the problems that President Trump is bringing our way,” said McKee. “We should have more details on that tomorrow, but do we have the plan to use state funds, some of the state funds, partnering again with the food bank and the local food banks and municipalities as well. We’re working very hard at this.”
