SNAP by the numbers: Almost a third of Mass. recipients are children

Nearly a third of those receiving federal food assistance in Massachusetts are children, according to the administration of Gov. Maura Healey.

With the federal government still shut down as of Oct. 31, funding for the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) is set to dry up the following day — though a ruling by a federal judge could change that.
