Massachusetts Healey-Driscoll Administration Invests $632,000 in Urban Greening to Combat Heat in EJ Neighborhoods

The Massachusetts Healey-Driscoll administration is allocating $632,000 to expand tree planting and implement cooling strategies in urban areas, according to the Executive Office of Energy and Environmental Affairs (EEA). The funding will support projects in eight municipalities as part of the Cooling Corridors program. The initiative targets areas with high summer temperatures, including frequently used walkways and Environmental Justice (EJ) neighborhoods.

Programs are being developed to reduce high temperatures in urban areas.
