WORCESTER – If you thought the perfect remedy for a chilly New England day would be a piping hot cup of Starbucks coffee, you were out of luck Thursday, Dec. 4, at locations on East Central Street and in Gardner.
Caitlin Power, shift manager of the Starbucks in Gardner, where she has worked for four years, said the staff is on strike due to unfair labor practices. She was at the East Central Street store on Thursday.
Despite a dozen bundled-up baristas chanting for a contract and carrying signs boasting slogans that included “What’s Disgusting? Union Busting! ULP Strike,” “No Contract? No Coffee!” and “Baristas on Strike!,” patrons still rode through the drive-thru, hoping to get a cup of joe. But no luck…
