Massachusetts woman admits to trafficking stolen human remains in multi-state scheme

WILLIAMSPORT, LYCOMING CO. (WOLF) — A Massachusetts woman has pleaded guilty in federal court to trafficking stolen human remains taken from Harvard Medical School and sold across several states, including Pennsylvania.

Federal prosecutors say 46-year-old Katrina Maclean of Bradford, Mass., entered the guilty plea Monday before Chief U.S. District Judge Matthew W. Brann. Maclean admitted to transporting human remains she knew had been stolen and moving them from Massachusetts to Pennsylvania between 2018 and 2022.

According to the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Middle District of Pennsylvania, Maclean purchased the remains from Cedric Lodge, the former manager of the morgue associated with Harvard’s Anatomical Gifts Program. Investigators say Lodge removed organs and other body parts from cadavers donated for medical education prior to their scheduled cremations, then sold them from his home in New Hampshire with the help of his wife, Denise Lodge…
