Snowstorm Warning Issued for Massachusetts, Maine, and New Hampshire

The National Weather Service (NWS) has issued Winter Weather Advisories across wide areas of Massachusetts, Maine, and New Hampshire, warning residents of dangerous road conditions, potential power outages, and a mix of snow, sleet, and freezing rain starting Saturday evening through Sunday.

Mixed Precipitation to Impact Travel and Safety Conditions

According to the latest advisories from the NWS offices in Gray, ME; Albany, NY; Boston/Norton, MA; Burlington, VT; and Caribou, ME, residents across much of the Northeast should brace for a rapidly intensifying winter weather system bringing a combination of snowfall, sleet, and ice accumulations.

Massachusetts will experience freezing rain starting around 5 PM Saturday. The advisory affects northern Worcester County, western Franklin, Hampshire, Hampden, and northern Middlesex Counties, with ice accumulations of up to 0.2 inches in elevated areas like the Berkshires. Lower areas may still see a glaze of ice, enough to create hazardous travel conditions.

In New Hampshire, a Winter Weather Advisory is in effect for nearly the entire state, including Keene, Concord, Laconia, Lebanon, and surrounding areas. The state is expected to see up to 2 inches of snow, a quarter-inch of sleet, and up to a tenth of an inch of ice, making roads slippery and increasing the risk of accidents…
