Shrewsbury PD discovers fentanyl, cocaine after stopping vehicle on Route 9

SHREWSBURY — At approximately 10:37 a.m. on Jan. 21, a Shrewsbury Police Department detective was on-duty in an unmarked cruiser on Lakeview Avenue in Shrewsbury. At this time, the detective observed a green Toyota fail to stop at the intersection of Boston Turnpike and Lakeview Avenue.

The detective stopped the vehicle just prior to the Lake Quinsigamond bridge. Based on a roadside investigation, the detective developed probable cause and believed there were drugs inside of the vehicle. The two occupants were asked to step out of the vehicle, and a search was conducted.

The search led to the alleged discovery of over 18 grams of fentanyl and over 34 grams of crack cocaine, along with four separate cell phones inside the vehicle. Additionally, officers seized $888 from the defendant…
