WARE, Mass. (WWLP) – Multiple crews worked together to put out a three-alarm fire on Pleasant Street in Ware Sunday morning.
The Ware Fire Department stated that at approximately 2:20 a.m. on Sunday, an ambulance reported a structure fire in the area of Pleasant Street and Church Street while responding to a medical call. The crew requested additional members to the area and a full second-alarm assignment.
Springfield crews put out vehicle fire on Stafford Street
Firefighters arriving in the area located the fire at 14 Pleasant Street, a three-family home that was currently unoccupied. Due to the harsh weather conditions and the need for additional apparatus, the fire was upgraded to a third alarm. When crews attempted to attack the flames from the interior, they were forced out due to the volume and initial lack of manpower.
When additional crews arrived, they attempted to enter the home a second time, but the second-floor ceiling collapsed. A May Day was called, and the building was promptly evacuated. No injuries were reported.
National Grid was called to the scene to cut the power to the building, and personnel worked to successfully extinguish the fire from the exterior…
