Massachusetts man paid ‘ultimate price’ in tragic Marion trip, brother says

MARION, S.C. (WBTW) — A Massachusetts man’s life came to an end outside an abandoned home after his family says he took a mysterious bus ride to Marion in December.

“David isn’t just a drifter who showed up in town, or another statistic,” his brother exclusively told News13 on Wednesday — less than a week after the body of 32-year-old David Hutchinson of Oakham, Massachusetts, was found inside a trashcan at a Pearl Street home.

The shocking act of violence left neighbors in the area shaken as well. None wanted to speak with a News13 crew on camera, but said their community is a quiet one with older folks who keep to themselves.

Details are still emerging, but authorities have charged a 41-year-old woman, Jaida Braddy, with accessory after the fact to a felony, accused of pushing the trash can where Hutchinson’s body was found. She’s being held on a $15,000 bond at the Marion County Detention Center.

“He’s a son, a brother, a cousin. An uncle and a friend to a lot of people up here who loved him tremendously,” David’s brother said. “We prayed this story would have a better ending, and we’ll miss him so much.”…
