Massachusetts banning truck travel on highways starting at 5 p.m. Sunday

Most commercial trucks will be barred from Massachusetts intestate highways starting at 5 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 22, the Massachusetts Department of Transportation announced.

The restriction includes box trucks, tractor trailers, tandem and special permit trucks. Truck deliveries of food, fuel, and medical supplies will not be subject to restrictions.

“With heavy snowfall forecast statewide and the potential for blizzard conditions, travel is expected to be dangerous during this storm,” said DOT Undersecretary and State Highway Administrator Jonathan Gulliver, in a statement. “We are implementing commercial truck restrictions beginning at 5:00 p.m. today, and all non-emergency vehicles should stay off the roadways until the storm has passed.”…
