Worcester man charged with 3rd-offense shoplifting after $196 Market Basket theft in Shrewsbury

SHREWSBURY — A Worcester man is facing a third-offense shoplifting charge after police say he left a Market Basket in Shrewsbury with nearly $200 in groceries without paying.

According to a Statement of Facts in Support of Criminal Complaint submitted to Westborough District Court by the Shrewsbury Police Department, on Tuesday, December 30, 2025, at approximately 2:04 p.m., Mark Kuklewicz, 48, of Worcester, “intentionally placed” $196.61 worth of groceries into three reusable bags in a shopping cart inside the Market Basket at 200 Hartford Turnpike before leaving the store without paying.

“Mark proceeded to walk out of the grocery store, pass the point of sale, and run away from the manager when confronted, with no intention of paying for the groceries,” the Statement of Facts said. “The items that Mark took totaled $196.61.”…
