EAST PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI) — Cleanup efforts are underway after a massive blizzard dumped feet of snow on Rhode Island and Massachusetts, but some communities are struggling to clear the roads as smaller plow and utility trucks keep getting stuck.
During the peak of the storm, 12 News crews witnessed trucks getting stuck in Cranston, Pawtucket and Providence. Somerset police shared on social media that multiple tow trucks and light plows got stuck as well.
Tiverton Department of Public Works (DPW) Director David Michael Silvia Jr. spoke with 12 News Tuesday and shared how difficult it was to clear the roads during the blizzard.
“When we started to plow the roads, all of our vehicles started to get stuck on all the hills in Tiverton,” Silvia explained. “So, we spent the majority of Monday while the storm was at its peak trying to pull out either DPW vehicles or emergency vehicles.”…
