Cops found drug residue, scale in office of ex-aide to Gov. Maura Healey

SPRINGFIELD — Investigators found residue of heroin, fentanyl and cocaine on a scale stashed in former governor’s aide LaMar Cook’s office, according to a prosecutor.

Cook, once Gov. Maura Healey’s deputy director of her Western Massachusetts office, was arraigned Friday in Hampden Superior Court months after his initial arrest for alleged drug trafficking on Oct. 28. He also was charged with driving without a Massachusetts license, and illegal possession of a firearm and ammunition.

Since then, Cook, 45, was indicted in Hampden Superior Court on an additional charge of conspiracy. He was fired on the day he was arrested, according to Healey’s office. She has declined to comment, citing the ongoing criminal investigation…
