Barre – A man is in custody following the execution of a search warrant by the Barre Police Department earlier today in South Barre.
According to officials, officers and detectives carried out the warrant at a residence on North Brookfield Road after conducting an extended investigation and surveillance of the location and the individual involved.
The suspect, identified as Nicholas Laraia, was taken into custody without incident. Police report that Laraia is facing multiple drug-related charges, including trafficking crack cocaine and several counts of possession with intent to distribute controlled substances. Authorities allege the substances involved include fentanyl, psilocybin mushrooms, and Xanax. Additional charges include possession of Class C and Class E substances, specifically lorazepam, clonidine, and gabapentin.
