More Massachusetts police officers are being prosecuted. Experts have theories as to why

Massachusetts police departments have been besieged by negative headlines in 2026, with six officers arrested or indicted in connection with various crimes in the month of March alone.

Through the first three months of the year, more than a dozen officers were charged with felonies — a marked increase from years past, state data show.
