CHICOPEE, Mass. (WWLP) – Dessert lovers have a reason to celebrate on Tuesday as National Blueberry Pie Day highlights the beloved blueberry pie.
Massachusetts awarded $10.3 million in federal grants for clean water
The National Day Calendar states that the blueberry harvest begins in April and lasts until September, which gives us a long and full blueberry season. Blueberry season in Massachusetts, however, does not begin until late July.
Blueberry pies have been enjoyed since the early American settlers arrived. In 1872, the first documented recipe for blueberry pie appeared in the Appledore Cook Book.
