The Massachusetts Department of Conservation and Recreation has acquired 384 acres of forestland in Sandisfield, expanding protected habitat for black bears, moose and bobcats moving through what DCR describes as the most intact forest ecosystem in southern New England.
The property sits west of Route 8 along the Farmington River, physically bridging a gap between DCR’s Sandisfield State Forest and Tolland State Forest.
