Gardner nurse honored for compassionate care at St. Vincent’s Hospital

A Saint Vincent Hospital nurse has been recognized with an international honor for compassionate patient care, according to a community announcement.

Gardner resident Ronald Klash, a registered nurse at Saint Vincent Hospital in Worcester, was named the hospital’s most recent recipient of the DAISY Award, an international program that recognizes nurses for extraordinary care and commitment to patients and families.

The DAISY Award honors nurses who go beyond clinical duties to provide emotional support and human connection during difficult medical situations. Klash was selected after a colleague submitted a nomination describing his care for a patient whose condition declined over several weeks, according to the announcement.
