Northborough Colonial Faire to bring revolutionary era to life

NORTHBOROUGH — Cannons will roar, Colonial music will fill the air, and Revolutionary War re-enactors will take over Ellsworth-McAfee Park when the Northborough Revolution 250 Committee hosts its upcoming Colonial Faire on May 30 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. The rain date is May 31.

The committee hopes the event will become Northborough’s signature Revolution 250 celebration, giving residents and visitors a chance to step directly into the sights, sounds, and stories of 1776. The goal is “to help residents connect with the people and places that shaped Northborough’s role in the American Revolution.” The event is designed to be a fun, immersive day for families and history-lovers alike. The committee wants people to experience what Colonial life may have looked and felt like right here in Northborough.

This date was selected because it was 250 years ago on June 3, 1776 that the Northborough Selectmen voted to support independence. This was one month before the Declaration of Independence was signed in Philadelphia. The Selectmen wrote: “If it be the mind of this town to be independent of Great Britain, in case the Continental Congress think proper, and we are ready with our lives and fortunes, if in Providence called to defend the same. Passed in the affirmative.”…
